Newlywed Found Hanging After Diwali — Family Accuses In-Laws of Dowry Murder in Kaushambi!

Kaushambi, UP — A 19-year-old woman, married just six months ago, was found hanging under suspicious circumstances on Wednesday evening in Dashrath village under Karari police limits.

The deceased, identified as Vimala Devi alias Gorki, was married to Hiralal alias Mithun. Her family alleged that she was murdered for dowry and then hanged to make it appear a suicide.

According to her brother Deepak Pal, Vimala faced constant harassment from her husband, father-in-law Kishorilal, and mother-in-law for additional dowry. He also claimed that her brother-in-law Rahul, who lives abroad, would demand dowry over phone calls.

Vimala had been at her parents’ home for Diwali and was allegedly taken back forcibly by her husband on Wednesday afternoon. Later that evening, she was found dead.

Police have registered a case of dowry murder against four accused — her husband Hiralal, father-in-law Kishorilal, mother-in-law, and brother-in-law Rahul — and sent the body for post-mortem. Investigation is underway.
