Muzaffarnagar Shock: Hindu Man Attacked Over Interfaith Love Marriage
Muzaffarnagar (Uttar Pradesh): A sensational incident has emerged from Jasoi village under Titavi police station, where 26-year-old Suraj Thakur and his brother were attacked with sticks and rods over a love marriage with a Muslim woman. The victims were seriously injured and admitted to hospital, with Suraj later referred to Meerut for treatment.
Suraj, a resident of Nagla Pithoura village, had married Arshi, daughter of Dr. Naseem, in a court ceremony about a year and a half ago, defying her family’s opposition. The couple has a daughter. Tensions had reportedly been ongoing between the two families due to the interfaith marriage.
On Saturday (October 11, 2025), a gang of four people allegedly attacked Suraj near a local shop in Jasoi. The assault was captured on CCTV cameras and has since gone viral, sparking outrage in the district.
Following the attack, Pinky Thakur, Suraj’s mother, filed an FIR against Naseem Alvi, Wakar, Naeem, Kayyum, and Kaif. Police have arrested Naseem Alvi, Wakar, and Naeem, while Kayyum remains absconding. Investigations are ongoing.
The incident has drawn widespread attention, with Swami Yashveer Maharaj warning that the Sanatan Samaj may hold a public protest outside the accused’s homes if action is not taken swiftly.
SSP Sanjay Kumar Verma confirmed the case has been registered under serious sections and said police teams are actively conducting raids to apprehend the remaining accused.
