“Love vs Honour”: Karkala Mother Strangles Teen Daughter Over Affair!

Karkala, Karnataka – In a shocking case of family violence, a mother has been arrested for murdering her 17-year-old daughter after she expressed her intention to leave home for love.

The deceased has been identified as Shifanaz (17), daughter of Sheikh Mustafa (51), a resident of Hirgana village in Karkala taluk. The accused, Gulzar Banu (45), strangled her daughter to death on September 20 after a heated argument over her relationship with a youth named Mohammed Saleem.

According to police, the mother stuffed a cloth into her daughter’s mouth and strangled her when she said she would elope. Initially, the family tried to pass off the death as a suicide. A complaint was filed by the father, and the case was registered as an Unnatural Death under Section 194(3)(IV) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
