Firozabad Tragedy: Husband Jumps Before Train, Wife Ends Life an Hour Later

A heartbreaking double suicide has shaken Dabrai village in Uttar Pradesh’s Firozabad district, where a young couple — Pramod (25) and Nisha (22) — ended their lives within an hour of each other on Saturday.

According to reports, Pramod, who sold bangles for a living, had a heated argument with his wife Nisha in the morning. In anger, he left the house, walked about 2 km to the railway track, and jumped in front of a moving train. His body was badly disfigured in the impact.

When family members identified the body and returned home with it, they found the door locked from inside. On breaking it open, they discovered Nisha hanging from a noose. She was rushed to the hospital, but doctors declared her dead on arrival.

The couple had been married two years ago and were parents to a four-month-old daughter.

Nisha’s father, Shri Krishna, said he had spoken to his daughter late Friday night via video call and had no idea that such a tragedy would unfold. He alleged that no one from the in-laws’ side informed him of the deaths.

City SP Ravi Shankar Prasad confirmed the sequence of events, saying, “The husband died by suicide after jumping in front of a train. When the wife learned of it, she hanged herself at home. The matter is being investigated.”

The incident has left the entire village in mourning, highlighting the devastating consequences of emotional distress and unresolved marital conflict.
