Boyfriend Caught at Girlfriend’s House, Beaten and Forced to Marry Overnight in UP’s Jalal District

A shocking incident has come to light from Sunheta village in Jalal district, Uttar Pradesh, where a young man was allegedly beaten and forced to marry his girlfriend after being caught at her house late at night.

According to reports, Nirmal Singh (22), a resident of Hamirpur, visited his girlfriend’s house while her family was away attending a wedding. However, when the family returned around midnight, they heard noises inside the house and caught the couple together.

In a fit of anger, the family and locals tied up Nirmal and allegedly beat him throughout the night. The next morning, a village panchayat was convened, and the elders decided that the two should be married immediately to “protect the girl’s honour.” The marriage was solemnised at a nearby temple, reportedly under community pressure.

After the incident went viral on social media, many users called it a violation of personal freedom, questioning whether the girl’s consent was properly taken. Some have urged authorities to verify if the marriage was truly consensual.

While some are calling it a “Bollywood-style love story turned real,” others argue it reflects deep-rooted social pressures and outdated notions of honour. Police have yet to issue a statement on the matter.
