A Day Before Her Birthday, Mother Strangles 1-Year-Old Daughter in Mahoba


A heartbreaking incident from Subhash Nagar, Mahoba, has left the community in shock. A 33-year-old woman, Khushboo, allegedly strangled her one-year-old daughter, Rishika, just a day before her birthday.


Police said Khushboo killed her daughter on Tuesday evening around 5 p.m., following a heated argument with her husband, Arvind, who she accused of domestic violence and alcoholism. After committing the act, she reportedly watched her child’s body for nearly two hours before placing it on the bed, making it appear as if she were asleep.


The truth came to light when Khushboo confessed to her brother, saying, “I have killed Bitto.” Shocked relatives alerted the police, who took the body into custody and arrested the mother.


According to Arvind, his wife called him early in the morning, saying their daughter had died but gave no details. He later learned from his mother that Khushboo had strangled the child.


Police say Khushboo had been mentally unstable in the past and had recently been under stress due to family disputes and alleged harassment from her husband. Her mother claimed she had also attempted suicide earlier but could not go through with it.


Both families are blaming each other for the tragedy. Neighbours remain stunned, questioning what fault the innocent child had in the couple’s conflict.
