Pakistan’s Jaffar Express Bombed Again – Railways Under Siege in Balochistan

Mastung (Balochistan), Sept 23, 2025: A powerful explosion once again targeted Pakistan’s troubled railway network, striking the Quetta-bound Jaffar Express in Mastung’s Dasht area.

An IED planted on the tracks derailed six coaches, leaving at least a dozen passengers injured, including women and children. One carriage overturned completely, trapping several passengers until rescue teams rushed from Quetta.

Conflicting reports put the injured between 4 and 13, with at least five in critical condition.

This was the second attempt on the same train line in a single day. An earlier blast failed to cause damage, but this one struck with deadly precision.

The Jaffar Express has become a repeated target. In August 2025, an IED derailed six of its coaches. In March this year, militants of the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) hijacked the train in Bolan, killing 31 people — including 23 soldiers — in one of Pakistan’s deadliest rail attacks.

Despite increased surveillance, drone patrols, and stricter inspections, Balochistan’s railways remain under relentless militant attacks. The cycle of violence shows no sign of ending.
