Muzaffarnagar Man Kills Daughter for Refusing Marriage Proposal, Surrenders

 


A shocking case of suspected honour killing has emerged from Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar district, where a father allegedly strangled his 20-year-old daughter for refusing an arranged match.


Police said Kheyar (48) had recently selected a groom for his daughter Anju, but she opposed the marriage. Late last night, while Anju was asleep at home, Kheyar allegedly throttled her to death in anger.


After the killing, Kheyar went directly to the local police station and surrendered. Officers rushed to the house, recovered Anju’s body and sent it for post-mortem examination.


Preliminary investigation suggests Anju was in a relationship with another man, which her family disapproved of. Police are interrogating Kheyar to establish the sequence of events and confirm motive.
