Yoga Teacher Murder in Haldwani: Accused Arrested in Nepal After CCTV Trail

Haldwani, Uttarakhand: The murder of yoga teacher Jyoti has created a sensation in the city. On July 30, she was found strangled to death in her rented room, with post-mortem reports also confirming head injuries.

Police investigation revealed that the accused, Abhay Kumar, brother of yoga centre owner Ajay Kumar, had killed her. Jyoti worked at Ajay’s yoga centre, where she developed a romantic relationship with him. Abhay, who was unemployed and often quarrelsome, had been thrown out of the house by his brother.

Harbouring resentment, Abhay allegedly held Jyoti responsible for his troubles. He entered her residence, strangled her with a scarf, and fled to Nepal through Nainital. CCTV footage showing Abhay entering Jyoti’s room proved crucial in cracking the case.

Police tracked him across the border and have now detained him in Nepal.
