Kanpur Horror: 21-Year-Old Student Mauled by Stray Dogs, Suffers Severe Facial Injuries
Kanpur (UP) – In a shocking incident, Vaishnavi Sahu (21), a final-year BBA student of Allen House Ruma College, was brutally attacked by three stray dogs while returning home from college in Shyam Nagar on August 20, 2025.
The dogs tore her right cheek into two parts and left multiple bite marks on her nose and body. Locals rushed to her aid, beating the dogs away with sticks. She was admitted to Kanshiram Hospital, where doctors performed emergency treatment, requiring 17 stitches on her face. Due to her injuries, she can currently only consume liquids through a straw.
The attack has reignited concerns over rising stray dog menace in urban areas. The incident comes soon after the Supreme Court’s ruling stressing management and responsible care for stray dogs instead of culling, sparking debate on balancing public safety and animal welfare.
