₹1948 Crore Prayagraj Mega Bridge Shaken Again – Truck & Container Collapse During Loading, Workers Flee

Prayagraj, UP – A major accident occurred during construction of the country’s second longest bridge on the Ganga. While heavy concrete structures were being loaded onto a cargo ship using cranes, a truck and container lost balance and overturned into the river. Workers fled in panic, but fortunately, no casualties were reported.

The 9.9 km long bridge, connecting Bailey Road to Malaka near Phaphamau, is being built at a cost of ₹1948 crore by SP Singla Construction Pvt. Ltd. The project was inaugurated in November 2020 by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and CM Yogi Adityanath.

The incident, captured on video on Monday evening, has raised fresh concerns over safety standards at the under-construction bridge.
