Dimapur Police Dispose of Seized Narcotics Worth ₹34.83 Crore

 

The Drugs Disposal Committee (DDC) of the Police Commissionerate, Dimapur, carried out a pre-trial destruction of seized narcotic and psychotropic substances worth ₹34.83 crore at the DMC dumping ground in Burma Camp on Thursday.


According to the Commissioner of Police's communiqué, the destroyed substances included:


  • 9.741 kg of brown sugar, shanflower, and heroin worth ₹2.92 crore.
  • 16,537 capsules/tablets of SP/Nitrosen worth ₹4.13 lakh.
  • 5 kg of crystal meth worth ₹5 crore.
  • 2.450 kg of opium worth ₹2.45 lakh.
  • 17,269 bottles of cough syrup worth ₹16.95 lakh.
  • 2,600 kg of opium straw worth ₹26 crore.
  • 1,34,203 WY tablets/Simplex-e worth ₹67 lakh.

These items were linked to 79 cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, across Dimapur police stations.


The destruction process, supervised by Commissioner of Police Kevithuto Sophie, was witnessed by officials from Dimapur, Chümoukedima, and Niuland district administrations, as well as members of civil society organizations.


The physical verification of the seized narcotics was conducted on December 4 at the prosecuting inspector's office in the court complex, in the presence of DDC members, including DCPs from the three districts and SP (Crime) from PHQ Kohima.
