Bengaluru Man Fired and Faces Legal Action for Acid Attack Threat Over Woman’s Clothing Choice

A man in Bengaluru was fired from his job and faced legal action for threatening to throw acid on a woman over her choice of clothes. The woman's husband, journalist Shahbaz Ansar, urged authorities on X to act swiftly to prevent any harm.

After social media users identified the accused, Nikith Shetty, the company he worked for, Etios Digital Services, announced his termination and confirmed they filed a case against him. They stated, “This behavior is absolutely unacceptable and goes against our core values. We are committed to fostering a safe environment.”

Many thanked the company for their prompt action against Shetty, with Ansar expressing gratitude for the support he received, stating, “The man who threatened my wife Khyati Shree with an acid attack has lost his job. Thank you to everyone who made this happen.”

Section 124 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) imposes severe penalties for acid attack crimes, including life imprisonment and fines for medical expenses.
