Pension Hike, Skill Census, Anna Canteens: Chandrababu Naidu's Key Decisions on First Day in Office
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu signed five significant files on his first day in office, fulfilling several election promises. Key decisions include:
Mega DSC: Naidu approved the Mega DSC, aiming to create 16,347 jobs in the state.
Pension Hike: The monthly pension has been increased from Rs 3,000 to Rs 4,000. Beneficiaries will receive an additional Rs 7,000 on July 1, covering the last three months.
Skill Census: Naidu initiated a comprehensive skill census to generate data for creating 20 lakh jobs, enhancing employment opportunities in the state.
Anna Canteens: The Chief Minister resumed the 'Anna Canteens' for the needy, which were previously discontinued by the YSRCP government.
Land Titling Act: Naidu abolished the Andhra Pradesh Land Titling Act of 2023, restoring full ownership rights to landowners.
Naidu assumed office at the State Secretariat in Amaravati, with several Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders in attendance. Prior to taking charge, he offered prayers at the Tirupati Balaji temple and at the Secretariat office.
During his visit to Tirupati, Naidu criticized the previous YSRCP government for allegedly commercializing the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) and accused it of allowing activities that disrespected the sacredness of the site.
Naidu, accompanied by his family, received a warm welcome from temple authorities. He was sworn in as the 18th Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other NDA leaders in attendance. A 24-member cabinet, including TDP, Janasena Party, and BJP MLAs, also took the oath of office.
This marks Naidu's fourth term as Chief Minister and his second term after the bifurcation in 2014. Under his leadership, the TDP-BJP-Janasena alliance secured a landslide victory in both the Assembly and parliamentary elections. The TDP holds a majority in the 175-member assembly with 135 MLAs, while Janasena Party has 21 and BJP has eight. The opposition YSR Congress Party is left with 11 seats.
