‘Honour’ Killing Shock in Bhind: Father Shoots Dead Married Daughter Over Love Affair

A shocking incident was reported from Khiriya Thapak village under the Mehgaon police station area of Bhind district, Madhya Pradesh, where a man allegedly shot dead his own married daughter, citing social shame over her love affair. The incident occurred on Tuesday night and came to light on Wednesday morning, sending shockwaves through the village.

According to police, the accused, Munnesh Dhanuk, was angry over his 21-year-old daughter Nidhi Dhanuk’s relationship with another man and her alleged decision to leave home earlier. Police said Munnesh believed her actions had brought social disrepute to the family.

Investigations revealed that Munnesh allegedly lured Nidhi back to the village on Tuesday evening. Later that night, he took her to a mustard field on the outskirts of the village, where he shot her in the chest with a country-made pistol. Nidhi died on the spot.

The incident came to light after Nidhi’s mother, Pooja, informed the police. On Wednesday morning, police reached the spot and recovered the body from the field. The body was sent to Mehgaon Hospital for post-mortem examination. The accused father has been taken into custody and is being interrogated.

Police said Nidhi was married to Devu Dhanuk, a resident of Gudagudi Ka Naka in Gwalior, on December 11. On December 28, she had gone shopping with her husband at Maharaj Bada in Gwalior. During that time, she allegedly disappeared when her husband went to fetch water, prompting both families to search for her.

Villagers claimed that Nidhi was in a relationship with a man from the same village, who was related to her as an uncle. Reports further suggest that after going missing, Nidhi appeared before the Gwalior Kotwali police and stated that she was an adult and had left of her own free will.

Mehgaon SDOP Sanjay Koccha confirmed that a man has been arrested for shooting his married daughter to death in Khiriya Thapak village. He said the police are investigating all aspects of the case to determine the exact motive behind the murder.
