We Are with PM Modi, Joining Hands with NDA Only": JD(S) Leader HD Kumaraswamy
Janata Dal-Secular leader and former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy confirmed on Friday his party's support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) to form a "stable government."
Speaking to ANI upon his arrival in the national capital for the NDA MPs meeting, Kumaraswamy stated, "We are all with him (PM Modi), we are joining hands with only NDA. Not only me but the entire country has a lot of expectations from PM Modi regarding developments. Several problems have to be solved." He emphasized that there were no demands from his party, adding, "Stable government is required for the country, and for that, we are joining hands with him."
Addressing reports of demands from NDA allies, the JD(S) leader remarked, "Ultimately, everybody will agree."
A key meeting of newly elected NDA MPs is scheduled to be held today at the Central Hall of Parliament. Sources indicate that discussions will focus on government formation by the grand alliance. The NDA recently crossed the majority mark by securing 293 seats in the Lok Sabha polls, although the BJP's count dropped to 240 seats from its 2019 tally.
Earlier this week, NDA party leaders elected Prime Minister Narendra Modi as their leader during an alliance meeting in Delhi. Sources suggest that Modi is likely to take the oath as Prime Minister for the third consecutive time on June 9. While there were earlier speculations about a Saturday swearing-in ceremony for the new NDA government led by PM Modi, there has been no official confirmation of the date yet.
